Valery Vladimirovich Lukin (born December 20, 1946, Leningrad) is a Russian oceanologist and polar explorer. He has conducted research on the hydrological regimes of the Arctic basin and the characteristics of turbulent mixing in Arctic waters. He participated in 21 Arctic expeditions and one Antarctic expedition, authoring over 40 scientific and popular publications on oceanology, the use of computers in Arctic expeditions, and the history of polar research. He holds the title of ice reconnaissance observer of the first class.
