Ilya Nikolaevich Madason (Dolyen Madason) was a Buryat Soviet writer, folklorist, and participant in World War II, born in 1911 in the Irkutsk region. He began collecting Buryat riddles and folk poetry at age 14. He worked as an educator and a consultant in the Writers' Union and published several poetry collections. Madason is noted for his contributions to Buryat folklore, including a significant compilation of proverbs, and he became a member of the Communist Party in 1946. He passed away in 1984.
