He graduated from the Oryol Music College in 1956 and the Gnesin Musical-Pedagogical Institute in 1961, later completing his postgraduate studies in 1964. A notable performer, he has received multiple awards in competitions for folk instruments and premiered many works by his teacher, Nikolai Chaikin. Since 1964, he has toured various countries including England, France, and Laos, contributing to the repertoire for bayan with his arrangements and compositions.
