Vladimir Petrovich Nesterov (December 25, 1937 – April 2, 1981) was a Soviet military pilot and major, known for his heroic act during peacetime. He flew the Su-17 fighter-bomber and made a significant sacrifice in 1981 when he diverted a crashing aircraft away from the village of Kurovitsy in Leningrad Oblast, resulting in his own death.
