Andranik Melkonyan Petrosyan was an Armenian Soviet scientist and statesman, born on May 8, 1906, in Vladikavkaz, Russian Empire, and passed away on October 3, 2005, in Moscow, Russia. He was a major general in the reserves (1944), elected as an academician of the Armenian SSR Academy of Sciences in 1982, and recognized as a hero of socialist labor in 1962. Petrosyan was a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union from 1932.
