Petr Varnavovich Poloz (January 19, 1913 - May 3, 1963) was a commander of the 69th Fighter Aviation Regiment and a colonel by 1947. He became a Hero of the Soviet Union in 1942 for his contributions during World War II. However, in 1962, he committed the murder of two individuals, leading to his execution in 1963 and the revocation of his title and other awards.
