Alexander Mikhailovich Rashchupkin (1906-1958) was a soldier and a machine gunner who participated in World War II. He moved to Almaty with his family in 1930 and worked in construction. From 1941, he served in the Soviet Army and fought in the 1160th Infantry Regiment of the 352nd Infantry Division, notable for his bravery during battles in 1944. For his heroism in liberating the town of Orsha and crossing the Berza River, he was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union on March 24, 1945.
