Stepan Savelyevich Stanchev (1919–2006) was a participant in World War II, serving as the commander of a company in the 49th Separate Pontoon Bridge Battalion of the 20th Motorized Engineer Brigade within the 4th Tank Army, part of the 1st Ukrainian Front. He held the rank of Senior Lieutenant and was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union for his bravery.
