Slobodan Tarbuk was a former colonel of the Yugoslav People's Army (JNA) and a military official of the self-declared Serbian army. He was convicted for war crimes against Croatian civilians. He took command of the JNA garrison in Petrinja on August 7, 1991, and during his tenure, he ordered attacks on the civilian population of Petrinja, resulting in numerous casualties and destruction of property. He was sentenced to twenty years in prison for his actions, which were classified as crimes against humanity and international law.
