Born on February 4, 1954, in Dagan, Irkutsk Oblast, he was murdered on April 18, 1993, during Easter at Optina Pustyn. He was one of three monks killed that morning, alongside Hieromonk Vasily (Roslyakov) and Inok Ferapont (Pushkaryov). His life and death highlight the challenges faced by the Orthodox community in post-Soviet Russia.
