Ivan Dmitrievich Chechot is a Russian art historian, Candidate of Arts, and head of the Center for Art Studies. He is an associate professor at the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies and Practices in the Arts at the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences, St. Petersburg State University (Smolny Institute). He is also a leading researcher at the Russian Institute of Art History. Chechot specializes in German art, the history of art studies, and is knowledgeable about the culture of East Prussia (Kaliningrad region). He has authored over 40 scientific works.
