Gennady Leontyevich Shchepashenko (March 11, 1938 – August 26, 1995) was a Russian soil scientist and forest specialist. He studied soil erosion in the Belgorod region of Russia and Cuba. Shchepashenko developed a system for using chemical agents in forestry, authored a textbook on soil science, and conducted comprehensive soil surveys in Cuba. He uncovered mechanisms of rainfall-induced soil erosion and developed erosion control strategies that promote agricultural sustainability while preserving soil fertility. He also lectured on erosion mechanisms in tropical climates at the University of Barcelona.
