Maria Khemarskaia was a distinguished zootechnician from Ukraine, born on February 23, 1924, in Novooleksandrivka. She worked for many years as the head of the Novooleksandrivsk horse breeding farm No. 64. In 1960, she began working on the Novooleksandrivsk type of Russian draft horse, focusing on transforming it into a new breed with documented plans for breeding work. She collaborated with D. A. Volkov and A. A. Kalantar on this project.
