Jafar Patgar (born Esfand 1299 in Tabriz – died 25 Shahrivar 1384 in Tehran) was a prominent contemporary rug painter and artist, a student of Mir-Masour. His notable paintings include 'The Repairman', 'The Wandering Carpet Sellers', and 'Amirabad Coffee House', which are preserved in the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art. Coming from a modest family, he developed a passion for painting early and later became a pivotal figure in the Iranian art scene, establishing private painting schools and mentoring young artists.
