Alexandre V. Tishchenko was a Russian and French physicist known for his work in integral and diffraction optics. He was born on June 10, 1958, in Minsk and graduated from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. He contributed to major research in diffraction gratings and plasmonic modes and headed several projects at MIPT while mentoring numerous graduate students. In 1998, he moved to France to work at the University of Jean Monnet and became a professor. Tishchenko published over 150 scientific papers and won accolades for his innovations in optical methods. He passed away on August 4, 2016.
