Viktor Vladimirovich Istomin (April 12, 1935 – May 29, 2010) was a Soviet and Russian mining scientist. He specialized in technological systems and the regime of open-pit mining. He developed methods for substantiating stable parameters of dumps. Istomin was a Doctor of Technical Sciences and a professor at the Moscow Mining Institute.
