Nikolai Alexandrovich Surin is a Soviet and Russian geneticist and breeder, born on February 23, 1937. He is an expert in the selection and seed production of spring barley. Surin became an academician of the VASKHNIIL in 1990 and was elected an academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences in 2013. He was awarded the title of Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation in 1993 for his contributions to science.
