Alexander Vladimirovich Kolbanov is a retired Colonel of the Russian Federation special forces and a veteran of the Alpha Group. Born on December 13, 1967, in Zhigulevsk, USSR, he participated in both Chechen wars and several hostage rescue operations. He is an author and performer of military songs, a Knight of the Order of Courage, and a laureate of the FSB Award (2006). Kolbanov has been a member of the Council of the International Association of Veterans of the Alpha Anti-Terror Unit since spring 2011.
