Neli Saladze is a Georgian sports gymnast born on December 12, 1939, in Tbilisi, Georgia. She was a two-time USSR champion in group exercises (1961, 1962) and won the USSR Universiade in 1964. As a coach, she began her career in 1971, serving as the head coach for the Georgian national team from 1976 to 1993 and as part of the USSR national team coaching staff from 1977 to 1982. Under her guidance, the Soviet team became the absolute champion in 1979. She has also coached athletes in Belgium (1999-2001) and Japan (1992, 1996, 2000, 2002).
