بنان علي الطنطاوي, known as 'أم أيمن', was an influential Syrian Islamic preacher and writer born in 1943 and assassinated in 1981. A pioneer of contemporary Islamic work in the Levant and Europe, she was fluent in German and had a good command of French and English. The daughter of Sheikh Ali Tantawi and wife of Islamic preacher Issam Al-Attar, she was part of a notable family with several prominent relatives in various fields.
