Igor Kirillovich Kurdin is a Soviet and Russian submariner, born on January 22, 1953, in Polyarny. He holds the rank of captain 1st rank in the Navy of the USSR and Russia and currently serves as the chairman of the St. Petersburg Submarine Sailors Club. Since 2013, he has been an advisor to the governor of St. Petersburg on naval matters. Kurdin is a co-author of a book about the submarine K-219 disaster and acted as a trusted representative for the families of the crew members after the K-141 Kursk accident, as well as authoring 'Kursk. 20 Years Later: Secrets Hidden Underwater.'
