Samir Zaher was the former chairman of the Egyptian Football Association. Born on August 30, 1943, in Damietta, he graduated from Victoria College and earned a military sciences degree. A colonel in the Egyptian Armed Forces, he participated in the October War. Zaher played football for Damietta until 1964 and for Al Ahly from 1964 to 1973, while also being a member of the Egyptian national team from 1965 to 1967 and the military team from 1970 to 1973. He passed away on March 13, 2018.
