Vladimir Ivanovich Markov (1921–2019) was a Soviet military and economic leader, a lieutenant general. Born on February 21, 1921, in a family of teachers in Smolensk Oblast, he served in the Red Army and participated in World War II. He was a party partisan commander, later an academic and director in various defense organizations, contributing to missile defense systems and radar technology. Markov received numerous state awards and passed away on July 17, 2019, in Moscow, being buried in Preobrazhenskoe Cemetery.
