He studied at Tsinghua University and the Central Military Academy. In 1941, he joined the Military Affairs Council's Statistics Bureau. He later worked for the Central News Agency, serving as a reporter, editor, and chief of the New York bureau. He became the agency's president in 1978. He passed away from lung cancer in 1990.
