Vasiliy Mikhailovich Matvisiv, born on March 28, 1930, was the chairman of the kolkhoz 'Progress' in the Nesterov district of Lviv Oblast, Ukrainian SSR. He was awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor in 1980 for significant achievements in dairy farming and implementing a production system for milk. Matvisiv's leadership helped elevate his kolkhoz to one of the top agricultural enterprises in Lviv Oblast. He served in the Soviet Army and worked as a zootechnician before becoming chairman. He lived in the village of Zaborie after retirement.
