Abdul Hamid Younis was an Egyptian writer, novelist, and folklorist born in Cairo on February 4, 1910. He lost his eyesight at the age of 16 and graduated from the Faculty of Arts in 1940. Passionate about Egyptian and Arab folklore, he became a professor of folk literature in 1957 and authored 40 books, including a literary encyclopedia. His works were translated into several languages and studied in various universities. He was actively involved in literary centers across the Arab world and established a center for folk arts and an association for visually impaired women. He passed away on September 13, 1988.
