Eduard Stepanovich Kurochkin was a Belarusian avant-garde artist born on April 20, 1938, in Rogachev, Gomel Region, and passed away on October 9, 2014, in Moscow. He was a prominent figure of the second Russian avant-garde and is included in Gorbman's list of artists from the 'heroic period' of unofficial post-war art. Kurochkin's works are part of collections at the Museum of Other Art and the New Tretyakov Gallery, as well as various private collections in Moscow. His portrait of King Hussein of Jordan is located in the Royal Palace, Amman.
