Urban Jawień was a Polish physician born on February 12, 1931, in Stryj and passed away on January 17, 2005, in Sanok. After losing his parents during World War II, he moved to Sanok where he lived with his aunt. He studied medicine at Jagiellonian University and worked for over 30 years at Krosno Hospital, eventually becoming head of the largest clinic in the city. Jawień was noted for his contributions to the beautification of Sanok and was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta in 1986.
