Khizir Yahyaevich Abitov was a poet and publicist, born on April 6, 1941, in the village of Ali-Berdakovsky, in the Checheno-Ingush Autonomous Oblast. He became a member of the Union of Writers of the USSR in 1984 and was recognized as the national poet of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic. He passed away on April 17, 2013.
