Qais Khazali, born on June 20, 1974, in Sadr City, Baghdad, is an Iraqi Shia political leader. He was a prominent leader in the Mahdi Army at its inception in 2003 and founded an armed group called Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq in 2005, officially announced in 2011. This group later transformed into a political movement, with Khazali becoming the Secretary-General of Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq and founder of the Sadqoun bloc in the Iraqi Parliament. In December 2017, he expressed the readiness of the Islamic resistance to respond to the call of Islam and pave the way for a divine state of justice.
