He held various positions in the federal cabinet, including Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Federal Minister for Education, Federal Minister for Food and Agriculture, and Federal Minister for Water and Power. He was the father of Fahmida Mirza, the former Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, and served as a former member of the Pakistan National Assembly. He passed away on August 31, 1996.
