Richard Gregory Samaranayake (1923-1992) was a Ceylonese planter and politician. He was the eldest son of Hettiarachchige Don Saman Samaranayake and was educated at Royal College, Colombo. Holding a Diploma in Agriculture, he successfully contested the 4th parliamentary election in 1960 as a United National Party candidate for Bentara-Elpitiya. He won and lost subsequent elections, facing challenges regarding election validity. Samaranayake married Irene Jirasinghe, with whom he had two children.
