R. M. Veerappan (1926-2024) was an Indian film producer, screenwriter, and politician from Tamil Nadu. He founded and led the MGR Kazhagam party, serving as a Cabinet Minister across five governments from 1977 to 1996. Veerappan was a three-time Member of Legislative Council and a two-time Member of the Legislative Assembly. Known as the 'Chanakya' of AIADMK politics during the 70s and 80s, he played a pivotal role in unifying MGR fan clubs to establish the ADMK organization, where he served as Leader of the House and leader of the ADMK party in the Legislative Council.
