Raad Hammoudi is the head of the Iraq Olympic Committee since April 4, 2009, previously serving as president of Al-Shorta SC. Born in 1954, he is regarded as the best goalkeeper in Iraqi football history. He captained Iraq's national team during the 1986 World Cup, the country's first participation. Hammoudi played from 1976 to 1987, with 137 international matches. He lived in Jordan for nine years after leaving Iraq in 1989 and returned post-2003 Iraq War. Notably, he first gained regional recognition in the Gulf Cup starting 1976.
