Rachel Guido deVries is an American poet and novelist, born on September 9, 1947. Her novel, Tender Warriors, explores the life of an Italian-American working-class family and features complex lesbian characters. DeVries has written five poetry books, three children's books, and her works have appeared in numerous literary journals and anthologies. She received a fellowship from the New York Foundation for the Arts and several awards, including a Paterson Prize for her writing. She has also taught creative writing at various institutions and directed multiple writing programs.
