Rafael Junchaya Gómez is a Peruvian composer and physician born on December 7, 1939, in Lima, Peru. He studied composition at the National Conservatory of Music in Lima under Enrique Iturriaga. Throughout his career, he has composed two symphonies, orchestral works, concert music, chamber music, choral works, songs, and solo pieces for various instruments. In addition to his musical career, he is a trained physician from the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos in Lima. He is the father of composer and pianist Rafael Leonardo Junchaya.
