Rafael Martínez Arteaga, known as El Cazador Novato, was a Colombian singer, composer, and poet born on January 26, 1940, in Cravo Norte and passed away on March 5, 2017, in Barinas, Venezuela. He began his career early, representing Arauca province at the Primer Encuentro Nacional de Folklor in 1956 where he won First Prize. His breakout came with his composition 'Llanura, yo soy tu hijo' in 1966, gaining further recognition and awards at various international music festivals. He also recorded an LP with Tirso Delgado in 1969.
