He initially joined the Jesuits in 1961 but left in 1971 to study philosophy in Ecuador. After returning to El Salvador, he taught at the Universidad Centroamericana, where he became well-known as Don Lito. His notable works include the poem 'Cuídense del fuego, hermanos' and the play 'Nemaná.' He published several other literary pieces, such as 'Amor medioeval' and 'Indoamérica en Flor,' contributing significantly to Salvadoran literature.
