Rafi al-Issawi is an Iraqi politician, born in 1966 in Fallujah, Anbar Governorate. He served as Deputy Prime Minister and held positions as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs (2006-2007) and Minister of Finance (2010-2013). He resigned as Minister of Finance in March 2013 in protest against Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki's policies and subsequently moved to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and then abroad. On June 17, 2020, he surrendered to the judiciary and was acquitted of terrorism charges on June 30, 2020, but faces retrial in administrative corruption cases.
