Active in promoting literacy activities in West Sumatra, he currently serves as the Chairman of Forum Lingkar Pena in the region. After completing his education in Solok, Ragdi wrote short stories from high school, winning a prestigious competition. He studied Indonesian Literature at Andalas University, where he initiated the formation of FLP in West Sumatra. His first book, a short story anthology titled 'Perempuan Bawang dan Lelaki Kayu,' was published in 2010.
