She has won the World Championships seven times in the under 44 kg category between 1995 and 2006 and has numerous European Championship titles. Additionally, she set several world records in her weight classes. Jurkko has been recognized for her accomplishments in sports, including being awarded the title of Finnish Female Athlete of the Year in 1997 and her induction into the EPF Hall of Fame in 2008.
