Raj Vir Singh Yadav, born on July 27, 1937, in Uttar Pradesh, India, was a prominent Indian surgeon who made history by performing India's first kidney transplant in 1973. He earned his MBBS in 1961 and MS in Surgery in 1964. In recognition of his contributions, he received the Padma Shri award from Indira Gandhi in 1982 and was an honorary surgeon to three Indian Presidents. Yadav also founded the Raj Vir Singh Yadav Foundation to promote medical education and socio-economic development in India.
