Ralengnao Khathing, also known as Bob Khathing, was an Indian soldier, civil servant, and diplomat born in 1912. He made history as the first tribal origin individual to serve as an Ambassador for India. In recognition of his contributions, he received the Padma Shri award in 1957, the fourth highest civilian honor in India. Khathing played a crucial role in establishing Indian control over Tawang by leading the first armed forces into the region, under the guidance of Assam's governor at the time, Jairamdas Daulatram. He passed away in 1990.
