He served as the director of the Statistics and Consulting Unit for the Framingham Study and was the executive director for the M.A./Ph.D. program in biostatistics at the same institution. Recognized for his contributions to the field, he became a fellow of the American Statistical Association in 1990 and the American Heart Association in 1991. His son, Ralph B. D'Agostino Jr., is also a notable biostatistician.
