Ralph H. Baer (March 8, 1922 - December 6, 2014) was a German-American engineer, inventor, and video game developer known as the "Father of Video Games". His significant contributions to gaming and the video game industry during the latter half of the 20th century earned him this title. Born in Germany, he fled to the United States with his family before World War II, later changing his original name, Rudolf Heinrich Baer. In the 1960s, he conceived the idea of playing games on television screens.
