Ralph L. Palmer (1909–2005) was an influential American computer engineer known for his significant contributions to IBM and the development of early computing machines. After earning a degree in electrical engineering from Union College, he joined IBM, where he played a key role in the production of the IBM 604 and assisted in developing the IBM 701. Palmer's work during WWII in cryptanalysis led to advancements that informed the design of electronic components in mass-market computers. He was recognized as an IBM Fellow and became a member of the National Academy of Engineering.
