Prof. Dr. P. Ramasamy is a Malaysian politician born on May 10, 1949. He was the Deputy Chief Minister of Penang II and a Member of the Penang State Legislative Assembly, serving from March 2008 to August 2023, during the Pakatan Rakyat and Pakatan Harapan administrations. He was a Member of Parliament for Batu Kawan from 2008 to 2013 and a long-time member of the Democratic Action Party. Ramasamy's controversial views on Hindu nationalism and civil service reforms are noteworthy. In 2023, he founded the Indian-focused United for the Rights of Malaysians Party after leaving DAP.
