Ramesh Venkata Sonti is an accomplished Indian plant geneticist with expertise in bacterial genetics and plant genetics. He completed his MPhil in life sciences from the University of Hyderabad and earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Utah. He also received postdoctoral training at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Sonti served as a Senior Scientist at the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology in Hyderabad, India. He was honored with the prestigious Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology for his contributions to biological sciences in June 2004.
