Ramsey Lewis was an American jazz pianist born on May 27, 1935, in Chicago. He gained fame for his instrumental version of 'The In Crowd.' Lewis began playing piano early in life, influenced by his father, a choir leader and jazz enthusiast. In 1956, he released his first album with the Ramsey Lewis Trio, which included guitarist Eldee Young and drummer Red Holt. However, his most significant success came in 1965 with his rendition of 'The In Crowd,' propelling him into the spotlight among jazz fans.
