Ramsey Muñiz was an American political activist and a prominent Mexican American figure. He is known for running for governor of Texas in 1972 and 1974 as the nominee of the Raza Unida Party, making a significant mark in Texas politics. Although he lost both elections to Democrat Dolph Briscoe, he made history as the first Hispanic candidate to appear on a Texas gubernatorial general election ballot. His political efforts were aimed at elevating the voice and representation of Mexican Americans in government.
